I am changing.

Mon May 26, 2008, 6:27 PM
Recently I have received many comments, e-mails, and questions regarding my 'sudden' change in style, mainly in terms of where FT is going. I would like to post my response here and make my position clear to everyone.

FT is my way of exploring and practicing my art. I have admittedly grown to somewhat dislike the generic anime and manga style, and am trying to develop a style of my own that shows off my true ability. manga is almost too easy for me, plain and simple. I have come to realize this now, after years of immersing myself in it. what I love about looking back on the FT pages is seeing my development, and I feel it is enjoyable for many of my readers to track my development as well. it was only a matter of time until it evolved into what it is now. this amazing artist: *jdillon82 julie dillon, started off as I did, and I looked up to her a lot. It's how I started. I wondered why she stopped doing anime and I was so sad, but now I understand. it is simply the individual artist learning what they are meant to do.

I'm sorry, but 'Zukunft' may be the last thing you see drawn in such a style. In all honesty I greatly dislike how FT was, mainly in terms of storytelling. I seriously began to consider either re-doing it or even stopping it. I chose to re-do it. or at least suedo re-do it. that is what chapter 7 and on will be. the story will be told much clearer, and will be more relate able. FT is about racism. however in the entire 6 chapters, this has not been conveyed at all, and in fact the story has been going nowhere. starting now, you will see a very different story. in my opinion, it has been greatly improved. in many, it may not. It is up to my readers to decide whether to keep reading or not.

I am also well aware that this will not be the end of this. I am ready to make my case, since I still do have appreciation for some more original anime and manga. I understand you, and I get it. I am a nerd, and I still read Bleach and Naruto. I regularly play Pokemon. I love Death Note, Fruits Basket, Honey & Clover, Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and many others. I am still very open to it. It is simply the fact that I am changing as an artist. I hope you guys can understand this and continue to watch my development.

Thank you, and always know that I greatly appreciate your feedback and comments! I'm sorry that I may not always please everyone, but I love you guys. ^___^

Honestly, I don't think you have to make a case. Your art is your own, and what you do with it doesn't really require justification. It's proper to address the issue, since it has come up, but I'm glad you're not letting others dictate your art. :)

Good luck!

You can't please everyone, and for anyone to suggest you do so is wrong. It's your art not theirs, and if it bothers them that much, then they themselves should take up pen and paper and stop bitchin'! >D

Hope everything else is goin' well for ya! <3

It can't be a peach, it doesn't have any nuts in it!

You don't really owe anyone an explanation. Sometimes I feel being to 'Anime' is like selling out, it's pretty and fun and I like it but GAWD sometimes I'm like it's pretty with sparkly eyes it's not very original (talking about self) I love seeing people's are style change and grow, it's ok to be influenced but if you find your art getting stagnent, like your not growing ya just gotta go what feels right. Art is Evoloution affter all. I know I for one will be here for the long haul : 3 I find your work inspiring and always so diverse.

M.T. "Wut's that?"
Kuri:"Man Angry."

M.T:"What do you call a large group of ninja's?"

M.T.: "Dood! a Plague of ninja's upon you!"

You go, girl! -snap snap snap!-

I've gotta just re-iterate how proud of you I am. In the (surprisingly) short time I've known you, your art has EVOLVED (that's a Pokémon callback, hon! ;P) oh, so much! What you're doing now is, in my opinion, light years ahead of what you were doing. It stands out so much because it's original. Honestly, I can't think of anything that looks quite like it. THIS IS A VERY GOOD THING.

I'm sure that if you're readers were genuinely interested in your comic (storytelling, art, characters, etc.), they're really going to love what's coming down the pike. If they're going to jump off the bandwagon because it doesn't look like generic anime, then hey, who needs 'em? They're probably not the kind of fan-base you want, anyway...

I'm glad you're finally putting your foot down. You know what's best for your comic, despite what some might say.

No matter what happens, honey, I've always got your back. You're one of the best artists I know, one of the nicest girls I know, and THE most beautiful human on planet Earth. ;P I love you, support you, and would go to Hell and back for you.:heart::heart::heart::hug::smooch:

If this means fighting angry fangirls/boys for you, then so be it. :threaten:

I was really surprised with the huge change at first and I had determined that as dislike (because I'm silly like that). But I started comparing pages and the current style I like a lot better. I think it's really awesome that you're making your style your own! FT for the win! D:< -cough- >.>;

Me: Self defence?
Friend: Yeah, if throwing seven knives with your mind counts as self defence.

Yeah Just finished reading what you have done of your comic so far. I will say that as an artist that is exploring my own style myself that I have enjoyed watching your style change and evolve. :) At first I had to really force myself to read it because the style was so... it was I don't know how to say it .. But it improved greatly. Then the story changed... and I was confused lawlz. but yeah I got over that and kept reading :) I am glad to see that you are going for a style you want to pursue and it's wonderful too :) I discovered that I draw my best in an anime style but lately I have been drawing it all differently then I had before. I'm trying really hard to create my own style :) Look at me I'm rambling XD

And whats wrong with watching all those anime shows? Goodness I get so many weird looks because I read Yu Gi Oh Manga and I happen to like season zero :3

Okay anyways. Good luck :D And I can't wait to see more art from ya :D
